Burns, Valentines and More

Ella burnt her 3 fingers on a gas fireplace a few weeks ago.  The fireplace had been turned off and it was still very hot.  We were lucky they were 2nd degree burns and not anything worse.  Her blisters were double in size though, so we took her into the Urgent Care and they had to pop them, put on some burn cream and wrap them.  The night she burned them was one of the hardest nights for me.  I just cried feeling so bad that it had happened.  I wished so badly that it would have happened to me instead.  I was right there when the accident happened, but I wasn't fast enough to catch her from falling onto the glass of the fireplace. Burns are so hard because there isn't a whole lot that you can do.  And of course it is 10 times worse to a baby.  They don't understand that it is going to burn for quite a while.

It was hard because she would recognize that it would burn more if she took her fingers out of the water,  so she would always keep coming back to me to put them inside. It got to where it was so late at night that I knew she needed her rest and so I just had to put her down in her crib and let her cry herself to sleep.  It made it so hard because I knew it was a cry of pain.  Luckily it took 10 minutes before she fell asleep.  She was exhausted.  She knows now not to go near it and will always say, "hot." So I guess she has learned, but it had to be the hard way.

Valentines Pics and more

Valentines Day p.j.s and her new potty

She will always go sit on the potty with her clothes on and push in on her tummy like she is trying to go to the bathroom.  It's pretty funny.
I'm not going to push the potty thing, I just want her to learn about it and maybe when she gets closer to 2 years she will have a better understanding of it.  I think when she is ready I will know.

I was able to do this new hair style on Ella while she was watching Barney (:

I usually don't decorate much for Valentines, but I decided to put up a few things

Going out to eat at Famous Daves with my sisters

She is climbing up everything lately

 Climbing into the dollhouse

It was fun putting curlers in her hair.

She is really into wearing our shoes right now

 Her Valentines outfit

On Valentines day Logan came in with some balloons for Ella. She loved them!

We got her a Barney stuffed animal

New Projects

Old ladder-before

After

I had bought these love blocks for 6 dollars and wanted to still use them after Valentines was over, so I turned them around to the back and cut out letters that said "Luck" for St. Patricks Day

For our craft day last month in my neighborhood I made this St. Patricks Day subway art and its fun because its reversible

I didn't take a picture of the other side of mine but this is what it looks like

So sad about Ella's burns. I'm glad it wasn't worse though. She is so cute! Declan is always trying to walk around in our shoes also. I love seeing that Ella and Declan are doing a lot of the same things! Love all your new projects too.

Lisa, you continue to amaze me with your creativity! Everything is so clever--especially the reversable items! And I, too, remember the burn days. Even the smallest burn is the worst! Hope little Ella is doing better now and won't have a scar.
